Heat Illness Prevention Plans: The Heat Is On
Created on Thursday, 19 July 2012
Employers should have a heat illness prevention plan. As the summer heats up, keep in mind:
- Employers must provide access to shade and cool, fresh water. This is especially true when the temperatures reach 95 or higher.
- Businesses should make sure room temperatures are comfortable since it increases productivity and makes for happier employees.
- Businesses can allow employees to relax the dress code, while still enforcing reasonable grooming and dress standards. But, businesses must make sure they enforce policies consistently.
- Employers can require employees provide advance notice on vacations.
